Artist of the Month February: Steve Conte

Artist of the Month

We are very proud to announce this month's Artist of the Month: Steve Conte. You may know Steve Conte as a member of the legendary New York Dolls – or perhaps as the vocalist with Yoko Kanno on the Japanese anime series Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain and Ghost In The Shell. Then again, you may know him as the guitarist with Willy DeVille, Michael Monroe, Billy Squier, Peter Wolf, Willie Nile, Maceo Parker and many others.

He's an accomplished artist, leading his own bands such as Steve Conte & The Crazy Truth, The Contes, Crown Jewels and Company Of Wolves. But no matter how you know him you must know this; the artist known as Steve Conte is simply an all around talented dude; singer, guitarist, songwriter, producer, bandleader and sideman.

Conte, a displaced New Yorker (now spending his days in The Netherlands) has been busy working on a new record - his first official solo album. It’s a roots rock & roll affair featuring loads of guests like Ginger of The Wildhearts, Dregen of Backyard Babies and members of Foo Fighters, Mink DeVille, Alice Cooper, Hanoi Rocks & Georgia Satellites (a Pledge Music campaign for it's completion will soon be announced). He has also just finished making the new Michael Monroe record, which will contain many Steve Conte songs. The album was recorded in Stockholm, with Queens Of The Stone Age producer Joe Barresi.

As if all that wasn’t enough, Steve and his band of flying Dutchmen are now finishing up a new Steve Conte & The Crazy Truth International EP of covers at Labtones Studios! The tracks are sounding amazing and should be ready for mass consumption this spring, just as they hit the road for another tour of the UK (All confirmed venues listed below). They can also be seen touring around Europe; in Holland, Belgium, France and soon they will venture into the wilds of Scandinavia.
Songs from Steve's latest album Steve Conte & The Crazy Truth can be heard on his Labtones profile:
